Winter 2019/20 promises outstanding as well as unique experiences in the City of Bern, in the ski regions and in the great outdoors.
Top4 Ski Pass
This season, the four largest ski areas in the Bernese Oberland are once again offering 666 kilometres of wonderful slopes for the amazing price of only 666 Swiss francs. The "Top4 Ski Pass" includes the use of all lifts and cable cars in the ski areas Adelboden-Lenk, Gstaad, Jungfrau Ski Region and Meiringen-Hasliberg during the winter season. But there's even more: "Top4 Ski Pass" holders will also enjoy a 33 percent discount on overnight accommodation from Sunday to Thursday in selected hotels in the four regions. Advance sales of the ski pass will continue until 15 December.
Largest hotel in the city of Bern
Featuring 188 rooms all designed by leading New York designer Karim Rashid, the "prizeotel Bern-City" is set to become the largest hotel in the city of Bern from 1 February 2020. Situated in the former post office building on Viktoriastrasse – high above the Aare river and the Old Town – this budget hotel chain will usher in a fresh and simple way of experiencing overnight accommodation. Thanks to its proximity to the bus station and the Old Town, Bern will be able to be rediscovered right from the get-go either on foot or by public transport.
Food Expo Bern
Indulge in epicurean delights from A to Z at a single venue: Food Expo – in Bern's Bernexpo Hall and in Switzerland for the first time – offers a culinary journey of discovery that encircles the world. Sample a wine recommendation and savour a bite of the newest culinary creation: as a visitor you will immediately become entranced by the wondrous world of delicious diversity amongst the regional and international suppliers.
Flexible pricing model for ski passes
From this winter, it won't only be your snow sports skills that will be more dynamic, but your ski regions too. Gstaad now operates a flexible pricing model for ski passes that will factor in how early a pass is purchased, as well as the respective season. The advantage for visitors is the fact that with an early booking, up to 25 percent of the price can be saved.
A new culinary highlight starting this winter season: the "Gstaad Gourmet Mobile", a pop-up restaurant on a snowcat offers 'mobile' dining direct on the slope.
New mountain hotel
The "Gadmer Lodge" impresses with its down-to-earth character, genuine Alpine charm and abundance of pristine timberwork. A perfect starting point in the Jungfrau Region, this family-run mountain hotel is situated at an altitude of 1,206 metres at the foot of the Susten Pass. From here, nature lovers and sports enthusiasts can discover the nearby mountains, and solitude seekers and bon vivants the uniquely beautiful surroundings on countless paths. And if, for a change, you wish to venture up really high in the Jungfrau Region, the brand-new "V-Cableway" – a comfortable 10-person gondola lift with a considerably shortened travel time – will be able to whisk you from Grindelwald onto the Männlichen from December 2020.
Children's flat rate
In the Interlaken holiday region, adult season pass holders will be able to take advantage of the "Children's flat rate" this winter: on the Wiriehorn, the Grimmialp and the Springenboden – the three sports areas of the Diemtigtal – children and grandchildren born in or after 2004 will be able to use the lifts in the same area as their parent or grandparent season pass holder for only 50 Swiss francs more.
