The most beautiful routes in Switzerland: mountain and valley trips in the Panoramic train
What are the best views worth if nobody can enjoy them? In the Bernese Oberland, the Panoramic trains bring visitors past a variety of landscapes.
Sit down, take your time, and enjoy Switzerland: this and more awaits travellers on the GoldenPass MOB Panoramic. The tracks of this varied route lead from Lake Geneva to Gstaad, Zweisimmen, Spiez, Interlaken, Meiringen and Brünig Pass to Lucerne.
A journey into the past
Nostalgists climb aboard the “Classic” variant: a train in the style of the Belle Époque brings bygone times to life. The route offers magnificent views and fun in equal measure. In summer it is worth taking a trip out to one or all of the eight seas; in winter, travellers alight at one of the skiing areas and plunge into the snow. Gourmets indulge themselves on themed trips like the Cheese Train. While the cheese making directly on the spot promises a feast for the eyes, the fondue afterwards is a culinary delight.
A cheer for the Jungfrau Railway
No railway station or post office is higher than those on the Jungfraujoch. Visitors use the Jungfrau Railway but not only because of this record, but also because of the spectacular journey. The train travels 1,400 metres in height – past a fascinating glacier world and through a seven kilometre long tunnel through the North Face of the Eiger. Once the train has arrived, the Jungfraujoch delights with its wide range of attractions. On the platform “Sphinx”, visitors enjoy the spectacular view of the Bernese Alps, and can marvel at delicate and artful ice sculptures in the Ice Palace.
