Around Switzerland in 8 days: with the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland
On its way through all four language regions, the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland also visits the Bernese Oberland. With the GoldenPass MOB Panoramic, travellers pass many highlights of the region.
The journey to Interlaken is accompanied by the unique sight of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. After an overnight stay, Montreux by Lake Geneva is the next stop on the big tour. Until then, one eye-catching sight is followed by another: Brienzer Rothorn, Schynige Platte, Lake Thun, Simmental and Schilthorn present themselves as the best pick of the region’s attractions.
The most beautiful side of the Bernese Oberland
In addition, nostalgists have the exclusive opportunity to travel the Zweisimmen – Montreux route in a train in the style of the Belle Époque. One just cannot get enough of the variety of the landscape. Past eight lakes, three mountain passes, glaciers, thick forests and rambling pastures, the region shows itself from its best side. The Tour can be started at any point on the route and impresses all year round: in winter, passengers admire the white slopes and snowy mountains; in summer, travellers make a pilgrimage from lake to lake.
Things are getting lively
The literal high point of the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland is the trip to the Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe. With the Jungfrau Railway, visitors reach the highest railway station in Europe at 3,454 metres above sea level. On the viewing platform Sphinx there is a breath-taking view of the surrounding Alps. After a break in the Top of Europe Shops or excursions to the Sea of Ice and the Alpine Sensation, the train journey continues through the whole of Switzerland.
