Climb, clamber and shimmy: Bern’s rope parks make you feel like Tarzan

The Region of Bern turns visitors into real acrobats. In the various rope parks, they can swing from one vine to another at a dizzy height.
In the Zweisimmen rope park, the fun starts on the ground with entertaining team games. There are obstacles like bridges, rope ladders and zip lines to overcome on the way to the summit 22 metres high. Families feel at home in Kandersteg’s climbing oasis. Amid the cosy forest, a choice of courses featuring nets, vines and platforms awaits mountaineers both young and old.

Abseiling at top speed

In Interlaken, visitors experience the latest kick on the Vertical Rush. The mix of skill and free falling puts a smile on any adventurer’s face. In and around Bern, climbers have a choice of two rope parks – the rope park Bern in the Dählhölzli forest and the rope park Gantrisch in the Nature Park Gantrisch. The latter boasts the highest platform in Switzerland, accompanied by 84 others. Meanwhile, the rope park Bern challenges visitors to achieve peak performance on a 3,000-metre-long active course.

Even indoors, the sky’s the limit.

Europe’s largest indoor rope park can be found at the Grindelwald Sports Centre, with giant icicles, floating haul bags and obstacles that replicate an ascent of the Eiger. Successful climbers can end their adventure in fine style by signing the summit book.

Via ferrata

In Kandersteg, courageous visitors can enjoy what is probably the Alps’ most beautiful via ferrata. The ascent to the mountain station of Allmenalp cable car goes 550 metres upwards – past roaring waterfalls, over aerial ladders, Nepalese footbridges and a Tyrolienne. But Kandersteg, Interlaken, the Jungfrau Region, Adelboden, Gstaad, Gantrisch Nature Park and the Bernese Jura offer yet more for height lovers: the options span from alpine tours to tour weeks and training weeks to glacier trekking and bouldering.
