The first pro cycling race on snow

The International Snow Bike Festival Gstaad is a superlative sporting event. In the Bernese Alps, pro cyclists compete for World Cup points while amateur cyclists take part for the thrill of it – on bikes with and without spikes.
The Snow Bike Festival in Gstaad is the world’s first mountain bike race of the International Cycling Union to be staged on snow. This unique sporting event in the stunning setting of the Bernese Alps lasts three days and consists of the 19 km afternoon race, the 60 km marathon and the 36 km downhill endurance race through 1,000 vertical metres. At this superlative sports fixture, pro and amateur mountain bikers from all over the world battle it out for rankings, riding mountain bikes, plus bikes and fatbikes.

And it’s not just the pistes that make for a tremendous atmosphere: the spectators and the fantastic winter landscape around Gstaad are all part of it. Internationally renowned, Gstaad enjoys an outstanding reputation as an authentic destination boasting a genuine alpine culture, elegance and charm, and a certain British calm and composure. The region is also a superb mountain biking area – even on snow. Here mountain bikers are able to push themselves to their sporting limits, in winter too.
