A hint of New Orleans: the best jazz events in Bern

Spontaneous jam sessions, excellent concerts and performances by international stars bring jazz to the region’s cellars, gardens and splendid castles.
Lean back, enjoy a drink and move your feet to the beat – jazz plays an important role in Bern and the Bernese Oberland. There are, for example, the Jazz Days Lenk where for 10 days traditional performances take place during dinner shows and matinées. Or at the Jazz at the Doldenhorn in Kandersteg where jazz, blues and gospel delights are offered in combination with culinary delights. “Good things come in small packages” is the slogan of the Open Air Castle Jazz Days, which have the castle Oberdiessbach as an impressive backdrop. The same applies to the Jazz Days in Büren. In Langnau, the Jazz Nights invite fans of the music genre. Their Off-Festival is known for its workshop concerts and the sponsorship awards which have been presented to winners since 1991. The Jazzwerkstatt is a very special event where artists from all over the world spontaneously form bands to perform together, very often for the first time, on stage.

Hotel Innere Enge, the home of jazz

Every nook and cranny of the premises are used by the Hotel Innere Enge in Bern. Its vaulted cellar is home to the world-renowned jazz club, Marians Jazzroom, which was even mentioned in the American “Downbeat” magazine. The jazz club with its crystal-clear acoustics should be on the bucket list of every real jazz fan. In addition, the hotel is host to the International Jazz Festival and offers relaxing open-air sounds in its park. Even the Swiss capital has its own festival. The BeJazz brings music to the city’s Town Hall Square.
