Saanen

Located at 1,010 m, Saanen is one of the protected Swiss heritage sites. Chalets dating back from the 15th to 18th century give it a charming flair.

The village is easily as beautiful as the surrounding landscape. It therefore doesn’t come as a surprise that visitors regularly explore the summer and winter hiking trails. A total of 303 km wind their way through the area, and include trails around the mountain range “the Gastlosen” or between Saanen and Rougemont. For an excursion to the past, you should stop at the museum of the Saanen-County. It authentically portrays traditions of the Bernese Oberland, including craft, housing and other areas.

Celebration of classical music

There are not only one but two festivals of classical music in and around Saanen: the "Gstaad Menuhin Festival" in summer and the "Gstaad Music Summits" in winter. The concerts are spread across the entire region and are either held in festival tents or in different churches. A particular eye-catcher is the hexagonal turret of the St. Mauritius church in Saanen which makes it a perfect location for classical concerts.

Winter wonderland

The ski resort Eggli is a must for fans of the winter season. Delicious cuisine and winter sports come hand in hand. The wide slopes are ideal for skiing, and both the mountain restaurant with its sun terrace and the Snoasis lounge are perfect to refresh and relax. Beginners are well looked after on the practice slopes of the learning parks. Another way of whizzing down the hill with the wind in your face is by toboggan – the 5 km-long route takes you down to the valley.
