Schloss Laupen, Laupen

Laupen

Laupen and its medieval town centre sprawl out in the vicinity of Bern. The castle of the same name is known far beyond the region.

Sights lie in wait at every corner in and around Laupen. Covered arcades and houses from the 11th century greet visitors to the old city. The farmer’s museum shows the way of life from 1750-1900. Connoisseurs of the town simply explore the surrounding area. On foot they follow the path of the ancient Romans or use the circular route to the old Aare. In the middle of it all, the Chutzen-Panorama and the Neuenegg Battle Memorial offer past and current perspectives on Laupen.

Laupen’s turbulent past

Laupen Castle makes everyone a bit of a historian. Between the Sense and the Saane, this landmark cannot be missed thanks to its location. Visitors find it hard to decide where to start their sightseeing, between the impressive rustication at its facade, the late Gothic New Castle and the fortifications. And that is not all: the authentic furnishings, in outstanding condition, and one of the best-preserved castle halls in Switzerland enable guests to immerse themselves in the past.
