Exploring marshes, rock formations, caves, and wooded pastures
There is much to discover and see in the Chasseral Nature Park: hidden caves, vineyards and lakes interlace with dense forests, marshes and the typical wooded pastures.
The Chasseral Nature Park is a true paradise for nature lovers. It covers an area of 388 km2 and offers countless hiking trails such as the “The Anabaptist Trail” or the “Pioneers’ trail”, many mountain bike, city bike and e-bike tours as well as horse riding trails. A host of leisure activities are possible in winter too, such as cross-country and alpine skiing, snowboarding, snowshoe hiking or regular hiking. Winter sport enthusiasts will be thrilled!
Breathtaking panoramas and indigenous animals
Those who would like to catch a glimpse of the Alps, the Swiss midlands, the Franches-Montagnes, the Vosges, and the Black Forest all together will have to climb to the summit of the Chasseral at an altitude of 1607 m.a.s.l. On the different hiking trails in the regional nature park, lucky visitors may be able to spot a chamois, a lynx or a viper as well as lizards, stag beetles or a wood grouse.
Regional products entice the palate
More than 50 mountain restaurants can be discovered in the Chasseral Nature Park. A special culinary highlight is the 100% regional Chasseral dish with meat, vegetables and potatoes or grains. Other local products such as the Tête de Moine cheese, Tatouillard, air-dried sausages with Enzian spirit or wild flower syrup, which are labeled as Swiss park products, will make gourmet hearts beat faster. The label guarantees that these products were manufactured in the Chasseral Nature Park in a sustainable fashion.
