Industrial buildings are now being used to provide unique spaces to host business events and training. The charm of the past is blended with original furnishings, state-of-the-art infrastructure and surprising cuisine to create an inspiring setting.
Motivated participants, the right infrastructure and exciting content are essential for an effective meeting or a successful business event. If you wish to add wings to your event, you need to have an extraordinary backdrop. In former factory buildings and production halls or in historic hotel structures, yesteryear meets the present and creates an atmosphere that gives birth to promising ideas.
The Stufenbau in Bern-Ittigen
This striking building stretches like a giant staircase up the slope right next to the motorway viaduct. Gunpowder was produced here in the last century, and later such greats as B.B. King and Grace Jones visited these former factory premises. Two years ago, the building was converted into a modern event centre. It now offers a range of different spaces – all set up with a light touch and with respect for the industrial past. In the event hall, 600 guests can enjoy a party, while small groups can sit together in the intimate atmosphere of the lounge. The experienced team at the Stufenbau Event AG not only prepares the beautiful rooms, but also ensures that everything runs smoothly – with modern technology and an imaginative catering service.
The Dampfzentrale in Bern
It was only a hundred years ago that this charming brick building on the banks of the Aare river was producing electricity for the flourishing Bernese economy. Today, the Dampfzentrale on the grounds of the Marzilibad is a popular cultural meeting place, which is as natural to Bern as are the Bear Pits and the Parliament Building. If there is no cultural event being held, the foyer, boiler house and turbine room can be rented individually or all three together as needed. Catering is provided by the leasing company, taBerna Gastro-Kultur AG, which also uses the "Dampfzentrale" restaurant for culinary purposes.
Konzepthalle 6 in Thun
The Thun Kulturhalle 6 stands on the site of the former metalworks, Selve AG, which strongly influenced the development of the city of Thun until 1993. On this industrial wasteland, a modern, mixed urban district has developed where people live, work and above all live. Konzepthalle 6 impresses with its idiosyncratic concept and, depending on the type of event, up to 500 people can be accommodated in the spacious rooms with their clearly legible history. The winter garden is particularly charming and up to 180 people can eat together here. The terrace, which practically floats on the Aare river, is a special place indeed, and up to 250 people can gather here and enjoy a drink together.
Hotel Wetterhorn on the Hasliberg
"Old chairs - new ideas" – with these words Claudia Orlanda sums up her concept. She has been responsible for organising some highly memorable events at the historic Hotel Wetterhorn, which was built over a hundred years ago as a summer residence. In the heart of the Bernese Alps, groups of up to 80 people can discuss, negotiate and spend time together – in the charming gallery under the stucco ceiling, in the mystical "Cantina 1313" wine cellar, at the rustic-chic bar or in the atmospheric concert hall. The rooms, with their blend of ancient walls and period furniture with original interior design, create an ambience that makes you feel completely relaxed and at ease.
