Flow in the snow

Snow parks are a bit like a Swiss Zvieri-Plättli snack platter: you don’t always get everything, but what you do get is of the highest quality. Here is an overview of the diverse snow parks and fun parks throughout the Bernese Oberland.

The Gran Masta Park in the Silleren-Hahnenmoos-Metsch region is designed to set the pulse of all freestyle skiers and snowboarders racing. As one of Switzerland’s biggest snow parks, it never ceases to thrill with new kickers, rails, and other obstacles shaped every day. The legendary Gran Masta Bar, cool events, and concerts make for a perfect day’s snowboarding and freeskiing. With cool kickers, rails and boxes on four lines, this fun spot at 3,000 metres is as great for beginners as it is for pro riders. With snow guaranteed at 2,500 m above sea level, an early start to the skiing season is not a dream. The Snowpark Grindelwald-First benefits from the natural topography of the terrain itself, so far less effort is required to make the snow park even more of a dream for the snowboarding and free-skiing community. Besides the large half-pipe, the Bärgelegg and Oberjoch Parks boast freshly shaped kickers, rails and boxes, guaranteeing a perfect flow.

Today, the amazing jumps on show at the Skyline Snow Park Schilthorn are even more spectacular than those once performed by James Bond as he raced down from Piz Gloria into the valley. Obstacles to suit all levels are to be found at the Kandahar chairlift, enticing free skiers and snowboarders alike. With so many kickers, rails, boxes, wall rides and lollipops, there’s barely any time to admire the views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Temperatures up on the Jungfraujoch often rise above zero over the summer months, even though it is located well over 3,000 m above sea level. Ideal conditions, then, for gliding above the Aletsch Glacier, Europe’s longest, on the zip line at the Snow Fun Park and for admiring the eternal ice from the air. The snow down below is also the perfect spot to take in the magnificent panoramic views while enjoying a refreshment or two at the bar.
