For happy wanderers of all sorts

Where to go hiking is like everything else in life: people’s preferences are as varied as people are themselves. The diverse Bern Region has a special "favourite" just waiting for you to discover. We introduce six hikes that are sure to excite happy wanderers of every type.

Gürbental Panoramic

Trail Idyllic villages, the legendary Pfaffenloch and views of the picture-perfect Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau triumvirate are just a few of the exciting attractions along the Gürbental Panoramic Trail between Kehrsatz and Wattenwil.

Sentier des Monts

The gigantic wind turbines on the two Jura hills – Mont Crosin and Mont Soleil – not only dominate the landscape, but are also the focus of the almost 6-kilometre-long "mountain trail". Information panels and fun-to-use intermediate stations highlight the benefits of alternative forms of energy.

Flower Trail, Mürren

Alpine roses, Enzian and Edelweiss are probably the flowers most visitors will recognise on this trail on the Schilthorn – but on this secluded walkway, you will also learn about the other flowering plants growing in our Alpine environment. The trail starts right next to the Allmendhubel restaurant.

Lake Lauenen – SAC Gelten hut – Lake Lauenen

The mountain trail leads from Lake Lauenen into the wild Gelten valley, dominated by the Geltenschuss waterfall and the Wildhorn. Ascending to the SAC Gelten hut is a unique experience. The route passes by wild ravines and small waterfalls on the way across Alp Undere Feisseberg.

Panoramic Trail Gantrisch

So close and yet so different: the Gantrisch Panoramic Trail is located in the recreation area by Thun and Bern – and this makes it the perfect place to gain a few hours’ respite from everyday life. The tour takes place on a well structured and signposted hiking path – and is also suitable for undertaking in stages.

Höh, Kandersteg

On this short and somewhat fun hike above Kandersteg you follow the wooded edge of the moraine (if you find that too risky, then rather take the trail to Uf der Höh). Once you are at the top, you can sit on the secluded bench and watch the goings-on down in the village below.
