Jungfrau Region

Feel the refreshing spray of a waterfall on your skin in summer and in winter listen to the sound of the snow crunching underfoot –experience the region at the foot of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains with all your senses.

The Jungfrau Region is in the centre of the UNESCO Swiss Alp Jungfrau-Aletsch World Heritage Area. This famous triumvirate, the fresh mountain air and the many activities and scenic destinations make the region a unique holiday destination: Grindelwald, Wengen, Mürren, Lauterbrunnen and the Haslital have loads to offer in summer and in winter.

Legendary names such as the north face of the Eiger, the Staubbach waterfall, the Aare Gorge or Sherlock Holmes are all part of the magic of the Jungfrau Region. World famous scenic destinations such as the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe at 3454 m. above sea level, or the Schilthorn – PIZ Gloria with its 360° revolving restaurant and interactive „BOND WORLD 007“ exhibition, attract visitors all year round.

Snow sports enthusiasts will find an absolute paradise here: 260km of groomed ski slopes in the four ski areas Grindelwald-First, Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen, Mürren-Schilthorn and Meiringen-Hasliberg promise racy downhills, freestyle parks or slow zones – something for every level and discipline. For those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle, there are 150km of winter hiking trails, sledding routes, snow-shoe trails and cross country circuits to round off the comprehensive array of winter activities. In January, Wengen becomes the centre of all attention with the famous Lauberhorn World Cup skiing events.

In summer the Jungfrau Region is the place to be for hikers, bikers and walkers: 800km of hiking trails and 460km of mountain bike trails await to be discovered. Underway you will experience flower-covered mountain fields, clear lakes and breathtaking views – Switzerland at its best! A visit to an imposing alpine gorge or to one of the many waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen Valley offer some welcome shade on hot summer days. The Jungfrau Marathon, which has been described as the most beautiful marathon course in the world, takes place every year In September and around 4,000 athletes take part.
