INFERNO Triathlon

INFERNO – An experience like no other! One of the world’s most scenic as well as toughest endurance events takes place against the stunning backdrop of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

The INFERNO Triathlon – a truly spectacular competition in the heart of the Bernese Oberland. The event starts with the swim in Lake Thun, followed by the road bike section to Grindelwald, taking in Beatenberg, the Haslital and Grosse Scheidegg on the way. Then it’s onward by mountain bike to Lauterbrunnen via Kleine Scheidegg, finishing off with the mountain run up to the Schilthorn (Piz Gloria) at 2970 metres above sea. The challenges of this unique route may be taken on alone, or in a two or four person team. Alternatively, runners can also compete in the INFERNO half marathon.

With 5500 altitude meters to tackle, the INFERNO Triathlon counts among the world’s most challenging long-distance triathlons and is an absolute classic. The unique experience amid the picturesque mountain landscape of the Bernese Oberland and the informal atmosphere make the Single INFERNO a truly memorable competition.

Half marathon and relay race

With more than 2000 altitude meters, the “hellish mountain run” is a tough challenge for well-prepared and experienced mountain runners. Part of the Swiss Running Trophy, the route leads from Lauterbrunnen via Muerren to the finish on Piz Gloria at 2970 metres above sea.
