Small yet top-notch ski resorts

Ski your way down six kilometres of immaculately prepared pistes across varied terrain from the mountain station at 1,590 m above sea level to the valley station at 1,340 m, well above the blanket of fog in the valley below. Three lifts (one long, two short) await you just beyond the gates of Bern. There’s also a 100-metre-long ‘Pinocchio lift’ for unlimited skiing fun for the skiing aces of tomorrow to enjoy.

The skiing area below the Hohgant in the Emmental valley boasts more than nine kilometres of pistes, laid out across magnificent alpine meadows fringed by forests. The two ski lifts provide access to pistes with varying degrees of difficulty that are as suitable for beginners as they are challenging for more advanced skiers. A kiddies’ lift and a ‘magic carpet’ complete the uplift amenities. Incidentally, this is also where elite alpine ski racer Beat Feuz first took to the slopes.

The Axalp is situated on a terrace plateau high above Lake Brienz. The family-friendly skiing area with 15 kilometres of pistes is renowned for its good powder snow and its relaxed and uncomplicated atmosphere. The wide pistes are immaculately prepared and offer plenty of space as well as manageable facilities, making them very popular with families.

Price: A day ticket for adults costs 49 francs. On Saturday children ski for free (max. two children up to 15 years).

The snowsports area of the Grimmialp is tucked away at the very end of the valley and yet so near. The family-friendly area is easily manageable in size yet still diverse, offering lots of fun for children and adults alike, with ten kilometres of pistes, a chairlift, and a tow lift.

Price: A day ticket for adults costs 39.-, family tickets are available for 60.- francs (one adult, one child) or 120.- francs (two adults, two children).

The winter sports area at the Wiriehorn is easy to reach and offers lots of snow-based activities. Whether it’s for skiing or snowboarding, on ski slopes or free riding, the amenities at the Wiriehorn include one chairlift, three tow lifts, and a kiddies’ lift.

Price: The day ticket for adults costs 48.-, for children only 5.- francs. Two adults and two children experience a day of skiing for 106.- francs.

The ski area is located high above Lake Thun and comprises two ski lifts. It features slopes to suit all levels, ideal for skiing and snowboarding.

Price: The day ticket for adults costs 32.-, as a family day ticket 30.- francs. Two adults and two children pay 90.- francs.

The ski area with two tow lifts, three practice lifts and five kilometres of pistes is ideal for beginners and families. The ski lifts at Les Prés-d’Orvin welcome you to this exceptional natural setting on a southern foothill of the Jura mountain range. The ski area itself extends along the northern slopes of Mont-Sujet, at elevations ranging between 1,030 m and 1,230 m above sea level.

Price: A day ticket for adults costs 30.-, for children 19.- francs (17.- francs as a family ticket). Two adults and two children ski for one day for 94.- francs.

Family activities beckon at the Betelberg! The gently sloping terrain from Leiterli to Stoss is particularly popular with beginners. For sportier skiers, the seven kilometres Tschuggen slope is a little gem. What’s more, the Audi Skicross Gold Park, the high-speed section, and the Swisscom Skimovie section make for an exciting day of snowsports on Lenk’s local mountain.

Price: The family day ticket (parents with their children up to the age of 16) costs 125.- francs on Wednesday and Saturday.

This area in the Simmental is accessible by a tow lift and a practice lift with several piste options. Seven kilometres of prepared pistes make for ideal carving experiences and free-riding fun.

Price: A day ticket for adults costs 31.-, for children 20.- francs. One day skiing for two adults with two children including food and drinks in the restaurant Niderhornblick costs 111.- francs.

The family-friendly ski area takes you up to wide-open, sunny slopes with two ski lifts. Whether you’re a snowboarder or a carver, a beginner or a pro, you’re bound to find your favourite slope up on the Jaunpass. The Kids Village has two children’s lifts, which can be used free of charge by our youngest guests.
